One night only – me and my girl Oprah

and about 19,000+ other people!  I am still riding high from the fact that I was one of the lucky 19,000+ people who would be seeing Ms. O (as in the Big O…as in my virtual BFF…as in Sophia from the Color Purple …as in Oprah Winfrey) during one of the last 3 shows.  Yes, I was going to see her at the taping of the Farewell Season: Oprah’s Surprise Spectacular. (I still can’t believe it!)

Now you may ask…how did I get tickets?  I simply submitted my name on her website.  Yep, it was just that simple.   I had stumbled on her sight (I can’t even remember why I was on there) and I saw that they were taking open reservations for her show on April 29th and April 30th only.  Friday, April 29th was a wash because I totally forgot all about it.  And I almost forgot about it on Saturday, had it not been for a commercial on TV talking about the last Oprah shows.  So I quickly ran to my laptop and tried submitting my name but of course everything that could have gone wrong did (forgot my user name and password for the Oprah site; internet slow; laptop crashed, etc.).  All those things happening just had to be a sign that I wasn’t going to get the tickets, but I went ahead and submitted me and my friend’s name anyway.  What the hell, I thought.

On Sunday (May 1st) around 6:00 pm I was looking for an email with my offer letter for a new position I just accepted when I saw this…

I couldn’t believe it!  I won tickets to go see Oprah!  My BFF and I had a GREAT time.  Chicago was wonderful…a little windy but other than that it was sunny and welcoming and we had a blast!

Checking off one as complete from my Mighty Awesome List!

Here are some pictures from my little adventure…

Remember The List of 40 that I posted back on July 21, 2009?  You know the one where I listed 40 things that I wanted to complete by the time my 41st birthday rolled around.  Yeah, the one here.

Oh you forgot…do worry I forgot about  it too.  Well I can’t say that I forgot, it’s just that I didn’t look at it again after writing it.  But then again that is the same thing as forgetting about it isn’t it?  After revisiting the list and seeing all of the things that I haven’t yet completed…I decided to take some time and make a few revisions.   Here is the new list…

~I Think I’m in Love…I Think….

Today I while I was practicing the art of procrastination (I should have been working on writing some articles), I decided to visit one of my favorite creative websites Ali Edwards. On Tuesday, she does this Tuesday Tutorial where she will have a guest (sometimes she does them herself) where she will highlight some new techniques/ideas for storytelling, photography, scrapbooking or crafts for recording your life. On this Tuesday she featured Elise Blaha.

After reading the tutorial for Tuesday, I went and visited Elise’s website and I am in LOVE. Elise created a book of 24 things that she wanted to do in celebration of her 24th birthday. I think I’m going to do the same thing! Check out her book, it is way cute. Thanks for the GREAT idea Elise…you’re AWESOME!!!!!!!

I will post pictures of the book when it’s complete.

~The List of 40~

For my 40th birthday (April 27, 2010) I thought I would do something different, something memorable. So I can up with this list of 40 that I hope to accomplish during the next year. The point of the list is to simply have fun; these are NOT resolutions; simply things that I have always wanted to do but for some reason never got around to doing them (for whatever reason).

So without further delay I present to you my list of 40…

THE LIST OF 40
